Hou Teh Chien is a Chinese architect and a prominent expert on the work of Antoni Gaudí. He began studying Gaudí in the 1980s and is recognized as one of the first Chinese specialists in this area. Hou organized the second World Congress on Gaudí in Shanghai, emphasizing the influence of Chinese culture on Gaudí’s works.
According to his research, elements such as Chinese dragons, porcelains, and ceramics can be found in many of Gaudí’s creations. These influences reached Gaudí through his friend Eduard Toda, a diplomat who collected a vast array of Chinese art and coins during his stay in China.
