Biography

María Jesús Alonso Gavela is a professor of Geography and Art History and one of the leading specialists in the work of Antoni Gaudí. She holds a degree in History from the Complutense University of Madrid and was awarded the First Prize of the Fray Bernardino de Sahagún Foundation of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) for her research on Gaudí’s work in Astorga.

Alonso Gavela is a Founding Member of the Friends of Casa Lis Association in Salamanca, a driving force behind the Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and an active participant in the Gaudí Friends Association in Barcelona. Her extensive knowledge and dedication to the study of Gaudí have made her a prominent figure in the academic and cultural communities dedicated to his legacy.
